NW Winnipeg development moving on to Phase 2
September 11, 2017
The 220-acre area north of McPhillips Street at Murray Avenue, running along where the future Chief Peguis Trail extension is expected to run, is the site of Aurora at North Point. In the next 10 years, the new development is expected to have approximately 1,200 new homes, parks, ponds, and commercial structures. Land developers Daytona Homes announced the completion of Phase One of the project on Sept. 7.
The mixed use space will include townhomes as well as single- and multi-family, semi-detached housing. Space for businesses, to provide the new homes with nearby amenities, are part of the development. Aurora at North Point will be Daytona Homes’ first in the city.
"We identified this project from afar, and we liked Winnipeg for many reasons — the economy is stable, the market is stable, the city is growing in a very nice predictable pace — and it’s very easy for us to get creative in a stable community," Paul Moroz, Daytona Homes senior development manager, said.
