The Conference Board of Canada has published a report outlining the significant role that Canada’s 11 largest cities play in attracting investment to grow Canada’s economy. According to the report, titled The Role of Canada’s Major Cities in Attracting Foreign Direct Investment, Canada’s major cities deserve a seat at the table with their national and provincial counterparts when policies and strategies to attract FDI are developed.

WINNIPEG, MB – For the second year in a row, Winnipeg has won a coveted spot on the Intelligent Community Forum’s list of Smart21 Communities.
The Smart21 announcement is the first stage of ICF's annual Intelligent Community Awards cycle. The awards recognize 21 communities for their use of broadband technology to facilitate social and economic development. It is followed by the naming of the Top Seven Intelligent Communities of the Year, selected from among the 21. Winnipeg is one of four Canadian cities recognized this year. The 2012 list also includes Quebec City, Quebec; Stratford, Ontario; and St. John, New Brunswick.
