The University of Winnipeg is moving ahead with an ambitious campus and community redevelopment plan that proposes a holistic approach to campus and community development that breaks down barriers between the university and the neighbourhood.
The project includes the Richardson College for Environment and Science, a cutting-edge facility, engaging students and faculty in innovative research and development in natural and social sciences with a focus on the global north, climate change, water stewardship, “green chemistry”, urban sustainability and indigenous science.
It also includes the construction of the Buhler Centre, a LEED Silver project that houses the university’s faculty of business as well as a contemporary art gallery and Stella’s Cafe. The development of the university will also see the creation of a new fitness centre, community daycare and 6,000 sq. ft. bookstore.
