​Business Development Manager, Corporate Partnerships

The Corporate Partnerships department is responsible for building a broad, sustainable base of financial support for the organization. The primary role of the Business Development Manager, Corporate Partnerships is to implement the funding development strategy and partner relationship and retention activities. Core responsibilities will include developing and managing high-value and long-term corporate relationships that align with organizational priorities; developing benefits and managing activation that will provide value to partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Partnership Development & Revenue Generation        

  • Implementation and analysis of a comprehensive strategic plan which meets annual financial objectives.
  • Manage the development of a comprehensive annual plan that details specific activities and timing of activities and engagement (identification, cultivation, ask, stewardship, fulfillment and recognition) for each partner.    
  • Analyze and report revenue activity (pipeline activity, pacing, forecasting) and results.     
  • Proactively manage expenses related to this position and business unit.   

Partnership Recruitment and Retention       

  • Research prospects to acquire partners at various levels of support.        
  • Identify long-term, multi-year revenue targets for the organization.       
  • Ensure that prospecting, discovery meetings, customized partnership proposals and follow-up (stewardship/fulfillment/renewal) are delivered in a timely manner.        
  • Regularly communicate and meet with partners to build and maintain relationships.       
  • Monitor and evaluate partner stewardship, activation and fulfillment on an on-going basis to ensure satisfaction and tangible (ROI) return on investment.  

Partnership Benefits Activation and Administration       

  • Identify and manage the overall investor inventory of assets and benefits, including business unit activities that benefit partners. 
  • Ensure overall partner benefits and assets are current.       
  • Work closely with other business units on the activation of all partnerships.       
  • Manage the implementation of all partner events.       
  • Develop and implement measurement tools to ensure profitable ROI is delivered to partners.       
  • Manage client relationship management database records and reports associated with all assigned partner and prospect accounts.

  • Excellent planning and budgeting skills, well-organized, strong project management skills and attention to detail.     
  • Excellent communication skills including superior skills in business writing and presentations.       
  • Strong aptitude for networking and relationship building.      
  • Superior analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills, as well as proven research skills.   
  • Highly motivated, independent, self-starting and committed.        
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.    
  • Experience with CRM and database applications a key asset.       
  • Must be flexible, proactive, think creatively, be hard-working and have high energy.       
  • Must be an ambassador for Economic Development Winnipeg and the city of Winnipeg, promote the organization whenever possible and identify possible opportunities for the organization.    
  • Work outside of business hours to attend special events and business functions.  


  • University degree in a business-related field is required.       
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience and a proven track record in the field of strategic fund development, corporate and community engagement or business development is required.                
  • Extensive experience in networking with senior level management and the business community is required.    
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.       
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector, community organizations and community investment models is an asset.
