Work-Sharing (WS) is an adjustment program designed to help employers and employees avoid layoffs when there is a temporary reduction in the normal level of business activity that is beyond the control of the employer. Will extend from 38 weeks to 76 weeks.

Temporary Foreign Worker Work Permit Process

A worker who is already in Canada and has secured a new job offer, typically backed by a labour market test, can get approval to start working in their new job, even while their work permit application is being fully processed. This will cut what can often take 10 weeks or more, down to 10 days or less.

EDC is guaranteeing new operating credit and cash flow term loans that financial institutions extend to SME's, up to $6.25 million

EDC will work with financial institutions to guarantee 75% of new operating credit and cash-flow loans ranging in size from $16.5 million to $80 million. Companies who qualify will tend to have revenues between $50 million and $300 million.

Health and Post-Secondary Education Levy Tax Deferral

Health and Post-Secondary Education Levy Tax Deferral

Health and Post-Secondary Education Tax Levy returns for small and medium-sized businesses with remittances of no more than $10,000 per month are eligible for an interest and penalty free payment deferral to June 30, 2021. The deferral is for the January, February, March, April and May 2021 return periods. The RST and tax levy deferrals are optional and for tax payments only. Businesses must continue to file returns by the required due dates.
