Healthy Hire Manitoba Program

Under the Healthy Hire Manitoba Program, local employers can apply for up to $50,000 in provincial subsidies to help cover the wages of new employees who can attest they have been vaccinated or will be vaccinated.

Pandemic Sick Leave

Pandemic Sick Leave

Employers will be provided with up to $600 per employee for up to 5 days for COVID-19 related sick leave. This includes time off for testing, vaccinations and side-effects, self-isolation, or care of a loved one in any of these circumstances. Applications will be available starting May 14, 2021

RST Tax Deferral

RST Tax Deferral

Small and medium-sized businesses with retail sale tax (RST) remittances of no more than $10,000 per month are eligible for an interest and penalty-free payment deferral to June 30, 2021. The deferral is for the January, February, March, April and May 2021 return periods. Businesses are also eligible for an interest and penalty-free payment deferral until June 30, 2021, for the March quarterly RST return.

Temporary Exception to Employment Standards Regulations (Layoffs)

The province is making temporary amendments that would ensure any period of layoff occurring after March 1, 2020, will not be counted toward the period after which a temporary layoff would become a permanent termination.

Manitoba Youth Jobs Program 

Manitoba Youth Jobs Program 

The program provides wage subsidies to permanent Manitoba-based non-profit organizations and private sector employers that hire eligible employees aged 29 and younger. Employers receive a 50% wage subsidy on all eligible wages earned by eligible employees up to a maximum funding of $25,000 per employer. The wage subsidy covers full pay periods that fall between May 1 and September 5, 2021. Employers are not limited in the number of eligible employees they can claim.

The Pandemic Response Challenge Program: NRC (R&D based)

This program will receive $15M to build teams to address challenges requiring further research and development for solutions to meet COVID-19 related needs. The NRC will build these teams drawing on internal-to-government capacity and academic researchers who register to indicate their interest, and related areas of expertise and capabilities

City of Winnipeg Residential and business tax deferral

City of Winnipeg Residential and business tax deferral

The City of Winnipeg is waiving penalites for unpaid property & business taxes for up to three months following their due date. The City is also waiving the Tax Instalment Payment Plan program fees on both property and business taxes until October 1, 2021.

Agriculture and Food Business Solutions Fund

The Agriculture and Food Business Solutions Fund is set up to support a wide range of enterprises in the agribusiness and agri-food sector. The fund will help companies in times of need through innovative solutions such as convertible debt investments and other flexible financing solutions.
