Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. Appoints New Chair and Board of Directors for 2011/2012

August 25, 2011: Winnipeg, MB – Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. is pleased to announce that Mary Jane Loustel, national aboriginal program executive for IBM Canada, has been elected as chair of the Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. board of directors for 2011/2012. Loustel replaces former chair, Nick Logan, president and CEO of National Leasing.

Loustel brings a wealth of experience to the position thanks to her previous role as head of the Women’s Enterprise Centre. Loustel has worked in the post-secondary education, finance and business services sectors providing leadership in strategic, financial and operational planning. Her current role as part of the IBM Canada Aboriginal Strategy is to advance aboriginal participation in the technology sector and economy.

"Winnipeg is a vibrant city offering diversity in culture and business,” says Loustel. “I am looking forward to working with the Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. team and our partners in building economic growth and development for our city."

Loustel has researched policy and program direction for women including study of issues in urban, rural and remote communities on topics ranging from success in entrepreneurship to coping on social support systems. She has also served as a speaker and facilitator in a variety of topical areas ranging from aboriginal inclusion to governance and accountability.

Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. is also pleased to welcome three new members to its board— Jenifer Bartman, founder and principal of Jenifer Bartman Business Advisory Services, who will serve on the finance committee, as well as Michael Pye, general manager of the Fairmont Winnipeg and Mike Scatliff of Scatliff + Miller + Murray.
