Winnipeg Named International Festival and Event City
October 2, 2018 – Winnipeg has been officially recognized by the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) as a 2018 IFEA World Festival and Event City.
This international award is presented annually to cities who demonstrate community leadership and ongoing, concerted efforts and support to create a local environment that is conducive to and encourages the success and growth of festivals and events. The awards are judged and presented to exemplary cities around the world, as an example for other cities to emulate. This event indicates that Winnipeg has raised the bar in hosting world-class festivals and events.
Winnipeg is the second-ever Canadian city to be designated by IFEA as a World Festival and Event City in the organization’s history.
Winnipeg received its award on October 1st at the IFEA Awards Luncheon, part of the 63rd Annual IFEA Convention & Expo in San Diego, California.
