Skip The Dishes luring hundreds of software developers in 2018

Throughout 2018, Skip The Dishes will be enticing hundreds of new software developers who are hungry to bring their passion, drive, and coding capacity to continuously outpace and outperform competitors in North America's exploding food delivery app space.

From Skip's open-concept loft offices in downtown Winnipeg's historic Exchange District, developers joining the company are expected to quickly perform to their maximum potential. As they get rolling, many of Skip's new developers discover they can accomplish much more than they believed would be possible.

One of several software developers on Skip's career fast track is Eric Zaporzan, 24, who came to Winnipeg from the University of Toronto after earning a computer science degree. Only nine months into his role at Skip, and Zaporzan's genius coding talent and relentless work ethic is being recognized and rewarded.

"It's rare to find this elsewhere, but if you can match the pace, and if you want to work for it, you can get a lot of responsibility quickly," Zaporzan said, adding, "Code you write in the morning can sometimes go live by the afternoon. It's exciting."

VP of engineering and Skip The Dishes co-founder Dan Simair says Zaporzan is already one of the team's  most valuable players. He blazed through the incubator training in a fraction of the expected time and he continues to set faster and higher production standards for the team.

"Skip has the capacity to develop skilled masters of innovation by strategically choosing to work only with those developers who have the ferocity and determination to become high performers," Simair says.

Skip's approach to tech talent recruitment is decidedly different. While many other Canadian tech companies try to attract coders with soft perks such as beer fridges, ping pong tables, and management hand-holding, Skip appeals to the intrinsic drive that makes high-achieving performers click.

In November, Deloitte awarded Skip The Dishes a Technology Fast50 honour, ranking it among the top five fastest-growing and most innovative technology companies in the country.

Skip's recruitment and training approach is specifically tailored to developers who have recently completed post-secondary training, are self taught, or who have experience in slower growth environments. New recruits start out working on educational training tickets in an incubator-style environment, and quickly move onto meatier challenges with peer reviews by experienced team members.

When Zaporzan was first hired at Skip, he was looking to stretch his skills and take on a lot more responsibility.

As a high-growth food delivery network supporting the restaurant industry's business, it's never a nine-to-five work week at Skip. Ideally-fitting candidates are seeking a demanding, performance-focused culture and opportunities to continuously push their skills and talents to higher levels.
