​Winnipeg named one of "Canada's Best Locations" for 2018

Economic Development Winnipeg's efforts in bringing new investments to our city has been recognized by a prominent U.S.-based industry publication.

In Site Selection Magazine's 2018 Canada's Best Locations listing, Winnipeg is featured along with nine other jurisdictions. The recognition is based on "private-sector facility investment and job creation performance, considered on a cumulative and per-capita basis based on qualified project data from Conway Analytics' Conway Projects Database," the article states.

Significant projects mentioned in the article include the announcement of video-game maker Ubisoft's new studio in the city, which was supported by YES! Winnipeg, EDW's business development arm. 24-7 InTouch, an award-winning, Winnipeg-based call centre and J.R. Simplot's huge $460-million expansion also got shoutouts.

The Winnipeg Whiteout Street Parties also received a special mention in the article. During the Winnipeg Jets' Stanley Cup playoff run this past spring, Economic Development Winnipeg, along with the City of Winnipeg and True North Sports and Entertainment (owner of the Winnipeg Jets) hosted street parties during every home game, which attracted 120,000 people to downtown Winnipeg.
